My son and I found this lurking at the back of a barn during an estate auction. It wasn't for sale, it was only being used to display some bric-a-brac. At first glance it was just another unassuming card table, until a closer look revealed ...
this small handle on the side of the table.
A handle, which once pulled, opened the space where the sewing machine will sit. There are two, adjustable metal rungs under the table top to support the machine.
Of course, it is old and the paint is peeling. But underneath is a very studily built wooden table. The paint is actually pretty ugly. It is a Martha Stewart green with a sparkly gold antique finish. Someday, probably a winter project, I will remove this old paint and probably just use an oil finish for the beautiful blonde wood.
The legs are beautifully preserved chrome. Can you see the instructions to "PRESS" the locking lever to release the leg?
There are no markings on the table identifying it in any way. I got all this for a mere $20. Not only is it awesomely vintage, but it fits my tiny little sewing room so much better than the mammoth 9-foot long table I used to have in there.

What a lucky find. It looks great
Your son has a good eye. You are very fortunate to get this great sewing machine table.
I found my 301A Singer table at a garage sale. It was being used as a display table for lots of junky stuff but we recognized what it was. The owner was surprised we wanted the "old thing."
That is an amazing score!! I have never seen one like that. Can't wait to see pictures of it in action.
